Beto Santillán is a Freelance Photographer and mountain climber based in Lima-Peru. Beto holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and works on a high altitude open pit mine in the Peruvian Andes mountains. His office has the best view of the east side of the Cordillera Blanca. This working environment year round over 4500 meters above sea level keeps him perfectly acclimated and ready to climb any peak.
He has been interested in photography since his teens and has been self-taught. In the last fifteen years he has climbed many mountains in the Cordillera Blanca, as well as in USA (Seneca rocks) always carrying his photo equipment and shooting the most popular mountains of the area.
Beto uses the Canon EOS 1V system with canon L lenses. His favorite films are Velvia 50 (set at 40), Velvia 100F, Provia 100F and Kodak E100VS, which he uses based upon subject and or light conditions.

Beto's main interests are capturing the beauty of the Cordillera Blanca’s colorful lagoons and waterfalls to its majestic mountains that can be photographed with the most dramatic light of sunsets or sunrises. Over the years he has mastered his technique and lauched www.andesmadness.com which features the very best images from the Blanca.
Last but not least, Beto is also an avid spearfisherman and a dog surfer.Of course has naturally been attracted to surfing photography. Notably many of his pictures have been published in related magazines.
